Assistant Dirwctor of Early Childhood
Help Shape a New Early Learning School
Little Wings Early Learning Academy is a brand-new, Reggio-inspired early learning school opening this fall in Everett, Washington. We are seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and highly organized Assistant Director who is excited to help build a school from the ground up.
This is more than a traditional administrative role. As part of our founding leadership team, you will help shape the culture, systems, environments, and educational practices that will define Little Wings for years to come.
At Little Wings, children are viewed as capable, curious, and active participants in their learning. Our program is grounded in strong relationships, intentional environments, inquiry, collaboration, and respect for children’s ideas.
The Assistant Director will partner closely with the Director of Early Childhood to establish a supportive school culture, strong operational systems, and a welcoming community for children, families, and educators.
What You’ll Do
Every day will look different. You will:
• Partner with the Director of Early Childhood to support daily school operations
• Coach, mentor, and support educators
• Step into classrooms as needed to provide coverage and hands-on support
• Assist with staffing, scheduling, enrollment, and licensing compliance
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and educators
• Support weekly educator planning time, collaboration, reflection, and professional development
• Help ensure classroom environments and teaching practices reflect the school’s Reggio-inspired philosophy
• Contribute to the development of systems, procedures, and a positive school culture
What We’re Looking For
• At least five years of experience working with young children
• At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience in early childhood education
• Experience with the Reggio Emilia approach strongly preferred, but not required
• Strong knowledge of child development and high-quality early childhood practices
• Knowledge of Washington State child care licensing requirements
• Excellent communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills
• A calm, flexible, collaborative, and hands-on leadership style
• Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with meaningful support for educators and classrooms
• Must meet all Washington State DCYF licensing requirements for an Assistant Director, including applicable education, training, background-check, and MERIT requirements

Compensation: $30–$34 per hour, 40 hours per week
