Position Overview
The Sports Supervisor leads and coordinates the ship's Sports & Fitness program, ensuring safe, engaging, and memorable guest experiences. This role is responsible for supervising Sports Staff, managing daily operations, coordinating sporting events and activities, maintaining equipment, promoting revenue opportunities, and supporting the Cruise Director team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Supervise and schedule Sports Staff and Sports Deck activities.; Train Sports Staff and support cross-training for Youth, Cruise, and Stage Staff.; Assist with staffing recommendations, workforce planning, and performance management.; Guest Experience & Activity Programming
Plan, organize, and host sports tournaments, competitions, and recreational activities.; Coordinate with the Cruise Director to maximize guest participation and satisfaction.; Develop alternative programming during weather-related disruptions.; Promote sports and fitness offerings.; Assess guest readiness for participation in various activities.; Ensure Sports Deck facilities remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety and USPH standards.; Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
Support revenue growth through promotions and upselling opportunities.; Conduct inventory management and equipment inspections.; Prepare reports, requisitions, maintenance requests, and operational documentation.; Guest Engagement
Act as host or Master of Ceremonies for group functions, charters, presentations, and themed events.; Attend guest social functions, receptions, and shipboard events.; Resolve guest concerns professionally and ensure exceptional service delivery.; Additional Shipboard Responsibilities; Support shore excursion operations when required.; Assist with embarkation and debarkation activities.; Operate spotlight equipment for production shows as needed.; Participate in parades and entertainment activities, including stilt walking on designated vessel classes.; Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Fitness, or a related field.; Experience; Minimum 3 years of experience in fitness, recreation, sports programming, or a related field.; Experience leading, coordinating, and instructing recreational sports and activities for large groups.; Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, and developing team members.; Technical & Professional Skills; Strong understanding of guest service excellence and customer engagement.; Proven ability to manage staff performance through coaching, training, and leadership.; Knowledge of budgeting, operational performance, cost control, and revenue-generating initiatives.; ; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Language;
Fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to effectively communicate with guests, supervisors, and team members.
