Position Description

Title:
Assistant Football Coach

Department:
Athletics

Purpose:

To serve as the Linebackers Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist
University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the

OBU Mission Statement
through the sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:
  • The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the linebackers unit. This position involves coaching student-athletes in techniques, strategies, and game preparation while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Development.
  • Conduct position-specific drills and practices to enhance skills and techniques.
  • Analyze game film to provide constructive feedback and improve player performance.
  • Foster the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes.
  • Game Strategy: collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop game plans and defensive schemes, scout opposing teams to identify offensive tendencies and weaknesses.
Other Duties:
  • Monitor the academic progress of the Linebackers.
  • Player eligibility.
  • Recruiting.
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably with quarterbacks.
  • Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques.

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Master's degree.

Experience:

Preferred: Collegiate coaching experience.
Required: Advanced football knowledge.

Equipment:
  • Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively through emails, text messages and social media.
  • Applicant must be proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Applicant must have experience with Hudl.
  • Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to carry at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Special Requirements:
