Location: Austin, TX 78748

Employment Type: Part-time (10-15 hours/week)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $28-32/hour based on experience

Requirements:

  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Vaccinations preferred: annual flu shot and COVID vaccine

Proposed Schedule:

  • 3 days per week, flexible daytime hours Monday-Friday
  • A few days per month of date-night childcare
  • Schedule to be agreed upon before starting

About Our Family:

We're a warm, loving family of three—with a 1-year-old daughter and two playful cats—living in Austin, far from any family support. One of us works from home as a brand and creative director while managing a candle business on the side, and the other has stepped away from the corporate world to care for our daughter and run online music lessons.

To help manage our busy life, we've recently started using a meal prep service and have a small cleaning team that helps us every three weeks. Our home is a place where creativity and warmth thrive, and we're looking for someone who can support us in keeping that balance, especially as we juggle work and caring for our daughter.

We truly value kindness, open communication, and a proactive attitude. We need someone who can seamlessly fit into our home, offering support with both organizational tasks and light childcare when needed. Above all, we're hoping to find someone with a warm, positive energy that will complement the loving environment we're building for our daughter as she grows.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a warm, professional, and kind individual who is not only adept at managing household systems but also brings a positive, loving presence to our home, especially around our daughter. If you're someone who exudes emotional intelligence yet values efficiency, we'd love to meet you.

Ideal Traits & Skills:

  • Warm & approachable: Able to connect with others easily while maintaining professionalism.
  • Proactive & responsible: Anticipates needs and takes ownership of tasks without needing constant direction.
  • Calm energy: Brings a sense of peace and balance to the household, especially when it gets busy.
  • Flexible & observant: Knows when to step in and help, but can also respect personal space and privacy on busy workdays.
  • Comfortable in a creative environment: We love music, so being able to appreciate and enjoy that vibe is important.
  • Tech-savvy: Fluency with Google Calendar and staying organized with recurring tasks is key to keeping our systems running smoothly.
  • Mindful of phone usage: Keeps distractions to a minimum, especially around our daughter, to maintain a focused, nurturing environment.
  • Respectful of our values : Understands the importance of being kind and respectful.

We want someone who can contribute thoughtfully, with the ability to juggle tasks, keep things organized, and remain grounded as part of a dynamic family.

Key Responsibilities:

This role focuses on keeping the household running smoothly day to day, with a few core priorities that anchor the work. Other responsibilities support the overall flow of the home and are handled as time allows or on an as-needed basis. We care more about the right things getting done – not checking all the boxes.

Weekly Priorities:

  • Home Systems & Organization:
    • Maintain organization for pantry, fridge, and household supplies
    • Reset and tidy rooms, maintain overall neatness, load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, cat hair off couch/fluff the couch
    • Participate and help manage household calendar
    • Bring in packages and break down boxes
  • Laundry Support:
    • Weekly bedsheet changes (mom has a dust allergy)
    • Regular towel rotation in high-traffic bathrooms
    • General wash, dry, fold, organize, and put away laundry
  • Meal Planning & Preparation:
    • Organize solids (meals & snacks) for daughter, stock ingredients and prep in advance (i.e. frozen veggies to mash, to pre-portioned servings)
    • Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Those core daily and weekly responsibilities come first, but once handled, we welcome support in other areas based on time, energy, and household needs that week, including:

Household Management & Organization

  • Create a system for pantry and fridge
  • Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and pick ups

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Coordinate and manage household orders (Grove, Target)
  • Run errands: grocery/household shopping, returns
  • Bring in the mail

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Iron, steam, and prepare outfits as needed
  • Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies

Pet Care

  • Litter box full clean every other week
  • Keep cat area cleaned, updated, and stocked
  • Keep pet supplies stocked (Chewy order) and organized

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Bring repairs to family's attention

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Open to watching our daughter a few times a month (example: 4-6 pm) for us to have time for a date or errands

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Rotate deeper cleaning of areas (e.g., oven, fridge, humidifiers)
  • Keep an eye out for minor cleaning projects that need attention
  • Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven)
  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entrance from the garage, sweeping cat litter)
  • Clean humidifiers monthly
  • Organize special projects: garage organization, cord organization, recycling of electronics

How to Apply:

Please submit:

  • A short letter introducing yourself and explaining why you'd be a great fit.
  • Your updated resume.
  • Three professional references with contact information.

This role requires a background check.
